What to get for Mother's Day

Well, Mother's Day is fast approaching and as usual I have left my gift purchasing to the last minute. Oh well. What's a girl to do? Fortunately for procrastinators like me we have Amazon! That store has saved my hide pretty much every holiday or birthday. I can find pretty much anything I want there, and with Prime shipping it always gets here super fast and cheap.

I think I've finally narrowed my gift down to an Amazon's Kindle, though I haven't figured out which version to get yet.

I'm torn between the Kindle Touch and the Kindle Fire.

VS

  • The Kindle Touch is definitely the more economical choice at $99. I have an even older Kindle (the cream colored ones with a keyboard and black & white display) and it's still going strong. The display does truly read like paper, and the wireless connection has never been an issue for me since I only use my Kindle for downloading and reading books. The Kindle Touch seems like it would be easy for a non-technical person to figure out, too. But...

  • The Kindle Fire offers a color display and the ability to use Apps, listen to music, watch tv and stream movies. The price increase is nearly double, however. Would she use apps? Would she watch movies on it? I certainly would, but this isn't a gift for me (sigh).

What do you think? Should I go with the Fire or regular Touch?
